Maryvale Prep was alive with music, food, art, and activities last week as the surrounding community came together for a fun, family-themed evening at the academy’s campus. The Spring Fiesta is an annual event that had an amazing turnout of 1,700 attendees.

“We are so thankful to have hosted our annual Spring Fiesta at Maryvale Prep,” said Archway Headmaster, Dr. Crystal Cruz. “We had a great turnout and were so excited to bring in many more vendors, wonderful dancers, and even a petting zoo!”

The evening included several carnival games, a student art show, and vendors. There was a dunk tank featuring a teacher that was popular among students. Near the potato sack races and the jump houses, families found an immersive petting zoo, which hosted a large tortoise, chickens, rabbits, goats, and even a full-sized llama. This was such a treat for the kids who got to get into the pen with the animals.

Food trucks lined the field and were popular with families who enjoyed their food together at the nearby tables. Options included MoshiXMoshi, Kona Ice, Ni De Aquí Ni De Allá, Memina’s Antojos, Mini Fair Food Truck, Kabobski, Better Bean Coffee Truck, CityBoy BBQ Wing, Taqueria Cochiloco, and Mi Casa Food Truck.

Music filled the air with a DJ placed in the campus courtyard.  As the sun began to set, the weather cooled and families began to find places on the grass to watch the Ballet Foklorico dancers, who performed several different traditional dances featuring dancers of all ages.

“It is important for us to celebrate the heritage of our students and for our students to be more involved with the community around Maryvale Prep,” said Alexia Ames, Enrollment Outreach Coordinator. “I would hope that families and community partners that visit our Spring Fiesta leave this event with a sense of community and partnership with our school.”

“Gathering with our community to celebrate our accomplishments and experience joy together is such a blessing. Moments like these, really help us to bond and connect outside of our day-to-day partnership endeavors. We are tired, yet rejuvenated all at the same time,” said Dr. Cruz. This was a true celebration of Hispanic heritage, culture, and tradition.

The Spring Fiesta was made possible by major sponsor Casas Bonitas, along with Realtor Liliana Fuentes Real Estate, Grand Canyon University, Waste Management, OrthoArizona, and Maricopa Career Institute.
