Q. Why is CLEP a good fit for Great Hearts students?
In general, Great Hearts students are well prepared to take and therefore benefit from CLEP tests. The Great Hearts curriculum is preparing students to perform well on the CLEP exam with limited other outside support. Further, the range of CLEP tests available for students to take is broader, including options such as College Algebra, for example.

Q. Which exams should I take?
The following exams are recommended to Great Hearts students:

Courses marked with a * are going to need some preparation on the part of the student outside of the standard Great Hearts curriculum. Courses not so marked will still require test prep for students to master the format of the test but will require only a minor amount of curriculum supplementation.

Q. How much do CLEP exams cost?
Exams cost only $93 plus your test center's administration fee (administration fee waived for Great Hearts students testing at the Great Hearts test site, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy).
Q. Can I retake a CLEP exam?
You can retake the same CLEP exam three months after your original test date.
Q. Where can I take a CLEP exam?
CLEP exams are offered year-round at more than 2,000 CLEP test centers worldwide. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is serving as a Great Hearts test site exclusively for Great Hearts students.
Q. How long are CLEP exams?
CLEP exams take about 90–120 minutes to complete, depending on the exam subject.

CLEP exams contain multiple-choice questions.

Q. Which Great Hearts campuses serve as CLEP test sites?
Scottsdale Preparatory will serve as a pilot site for 2023-2024. Based on demand and results, Great Hearts will evaluate the need for additional CLEP sites for future testing.
Q. How long does it take to get the results?
Students receive their CLEP exam scores immediately after completing the exam (except for College Composition and Spanish with Writing).
Q. How many colleges give credit for CLEP exams?
With a passing score on one CLEP exam, you could earn three or more college credits at 2,900 U.S. colleges and universities.
