Temporary Orthopedic Devices on School Property Unrelated to Chronic Health Condition/Illness Policy
Before a student with an orthopedic device unrelated to a chronic health condition arrives on school property, they are required to obtain from the physician, or other appropriate medical personnel, documentation of the following:
• That the use of the orthopedic device (crutches, boot, splint, etc.) has been authorized by physician or other medical personnel.
• The diagnosis and the duration of the authorized use of the orthopedic device.
• Anticipated length of time the student will be excused from P.E./recess/sports.
• Footwear that is not part of the uniform policy has been authorized by the physician or other appropriate medical personnel if it is to be worn for an extended period.
