“The field was packed with more than 500 people for the event which included bounce houses, food trucks, balloon animals, carnival games, and the highly popular faculty dunk tank,” explained Brighton Demerest-Smith, Dean of New Faculty, K-12 fine arts master teacher, and studio art teacher. He said one of the highlights as the night concluded was when Headmaster Christa Reichert was repeatedly dropped into the dunk tank.

The event was organized by the combined Archway and Prep Parent Services Organization (PSO). “It was amazing to see both Archway and Prep families come together for a night of family fun,” shared Demerest-Smith. “Cicero has had a remarkable year as a campus, and this carnival was a great way to kick off the fourth quarter.”

“The word for ‘school’ originates from a word which means ‘leisure.’ And while the Cicero academies do the very serious work of reading Great Books, studying Latin, reciting poetry, and singing together, they also know how to have fun,” he said. “Classical education is about passing down wisdom to the next generation. It is wise to pause and play together and appreciate that as a school we have to have fun together!”
